Visionary Supervisor Spotlight: Laura Brassie
We are all about celebrating amazing mental health leaders and clinical supervisors, with plans to highlight one visionary supervisor each month!
This month’s spotlight is: Laura Brassie, MA, LPC, ACS (she/her)
What types of supervision do you offer and to whom?
I offer LPCC/LMHC supervision for clinicians in Colorado, Washington, Utah, and Massachusetts, both individual and group. I welcome clinicians with other primary supervisors to join my groups! I also offer ACS consultation/endorsement.
What makes you a visionary in supervision?
My supervisees have often said they appreciate the way I integrate structure and flexibility. I offer a lot of feedback, communication, and clarity, while also supporting each clinician’s unique professional journey. I really challenge my clinicians to deepen their therapeutic work, try new things, make mistakes, and disagree with me; all within a context that is open and supportive. I also have a lot of experience with running a solo practice, working within group practices, and navigating a lot of the third party services and tech companies out there. I really enjoy supporting my clinicians with developing savvy business practices and navigating the “industry” part of mental health as part of supervision.
What is your favorite thing about providing clinical supervision?
I love seeing my clinicians soar! It’s so rewarding when a clinician shares about a breakthrough moment with a client, or has discovered a modality or population they work amazingly well with, or just has an “a-ha” moment that shapes their clinical intuition moving forward. And of course, it feels great when I get to sign off on a clinician’s LPC paperwork and they get officially licensed!
